BothLEGOandHarry Potterhave built up truly enormous fan bases over the years, and whether you’re looking for a gift for aHarry Potterfan or you’re trying to recreate theLEGO Harry Pottervideo games, there’s no shortage of sets which combine the two fandoms into stunning creations.

If you’re just dipping your toe into the world ofLEGOsets, fair warning that building and collecting them can become a pretty expensive hobby. However, once built, they look incredible on any shelf and can actually gain value once sets become discontinued or retired byLEGOitself.

Speaking of which, some of the sets on this list are retired byLEGO, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be purchased. I’ve used the officialLEGOsite’s pricing for this list, but you may find any retired sets pretty easily on Amazon, or through other stores which sellLEGO.

If you think ofHarry PotterLEGOsets, this one will likely come to mind. While not the biggest set on this list,12 Grimmauld Placehas an interesting extending section which allows more space to play and more secrets to find. Coming complete with all of the faces who are regular at the home of Sirius Black, such as Tonks, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Kreacher, this set is fun to both look at and interact with.

Even though nobody wants to relive the memory of Death Eaters penetrating the wards around the Burrow and burning it to the ground, this setcomes complete with everything you’d need to do just that. Bellatrix LeStrange and Nymphadora Tonks make an appearance alongside a selection of beloved red-haired Weasleys and, of course,Harry Potter himself.

While you can buy the individual parts of this set on their own, such as Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes or Madam Malkin’s, if you’ve got the funds it’s worth purchasing them together for the extra goodies which come included as part of the completeDiagon Alleyset. If you’re a fan of minifigs, included with this set are four exclusives: Gilderoy Lockhart, Florean Fortescue, Lucius Malfoy, and the Daily Prophet photographer.

If you’re looking for the crowning piece on Diagon Alley, you’re obviously going to needGringott’s Wizarding Bank. It’s the centerpiece of the Alley in the books and it’s no different inLEGOformat. This 32-inch tall set comes with minifigs of Harry, Griphook and even someLEGOGalleons to hoard away in the Vaults which dominate the bottom half of the build. Plus, it’s got a working cart track and comes with a Dragon. Need I say more?

You can’t get to Hogwarts without theHogwarts Express, and thisLEGOset comes complete with a ticket to board at Platform 9¾. It’s a classic in the world ofHarry Potter LEGOand while it’s not tall, it’s long, measuring in at 47 inches. While it’s inarguable thatLEGOHedwig takes center stage inthis set, it also comes with a myriad of extras which celebrate the world ofHarry Potter. On top of Hedwig, you also get a set of Harry’s instantly recognizable circle glasses, a wand to build, five potions bottles (sadly they don’t work in real life), a Golden Snitch, a customizable acceptance letter from Hogwarts, as well as all the pieces you need to create a scarf in your chosen house colors.

As someone who grew up playing withLEGO, I’d argue that it’s designed to be played with, and no set on this list is designed more for that purpose than theWizard’s Chessset. Once the 10.5-inch square board and figures are constructed, you can use them to actually play a game of Chess when it’s not on display. On top of that, included in this set is a golden Severus Snape minifig, made to mark 20 years ofHarry Potter LEGO.

Pieces: 403

If you’re looking for aHarry Potter LEGOset to build relatively quickly which won’t take up too much space, I strongly recommendThe Knight Bus. One side swings open to allow you to move items around inside. A hanging chandelier and even aLEGODaily Prophet to clutter up the place. This set is perfect for younger builders or collectors who are running out of room for larger builds.

Price: $89.99 USD

Pieces: 777

Not just one well-known landmark in theHarry Potterseries, but two in oneLEGOset. Withthis set, you may recreate The Prisoner of Azkaban in all of its glory, or simply have the set on display with the rest of your collection. One particularly fun feature of this set is the inclusion of the three remaining Marauder’s animagus forms – Scabbers for Peter Pettigrew, a wolf for Remus, and Padfoot for Sirius.
