It would seem that Xbox-brand downloadable content or the promise of waggle has not been enough to keepLara Croftfrom flourishing on her spiritual home, the PlayStation. With 51% of totalTomb Raider: Underworldsalesgoing to the PS3in the UK, it would seem that some platform associations are hard to tear away from a franchise.
The game debuted in the UK chart at number 9, outselling the launch of last year’sTomb Raider: Anniversaryby 67,000 units. The 360 version accounts for 34% of the total sales, while the Wii, DS and PS2 versions trail behind.

The PS3 continues to hold its ground in the United Kingdom, and with so many Brits growing up with Lara Croft on the original PlayStation, it’s hard to associate the series on another platform. While not an end to the console wars by any means, it certainly shows the power of familiarity.
