While this won’t be PlayStation’s first stream of 2023, this showcase does have a different air about it. The confirmation of first-party PlayStation Studios news is likely enticing, given that Sony’sState of Play streamsin 2023 so far have focused more on third-party titles.
It’s certainly an opportunity for something likeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, which isexpected to arrive this year, to resurface. Several other upcoming games from frequent PlayStation partners could be possible, too. I know I’d be interested in some more details on something likeDeath Stranding 2.

It also runs just a little bit ahead of June, where the summer of gaming news has slowly but surely congregated. Evenwithout an E3to bind them all together, streams from companies likeXboxandUbisoftare still taking place, as well asSummer Game Festand its kickoff stream.
PlayStation’s getting a little ahead of that curve with a May 24 show. We’ll see what Sony has in store for its first-party production at the PlayStation Showcase on May 24.
