Last week, I sharedRokko Chan, a most adorableMega Manclone that swapped the Blue Bomber for the Blue Bombette. It’s a great game in its own right, sporting the same high polish, incredible pixel art, and catchy jams as its NES cousin. If you haven’t tried it yet,do yourself a favor. There’s apparently now a language option to read the cutscene text in English!
Rokko Chanreally does feel like something Capcom would have produced back in the day. And what else is Capcom known for pumping out? That’s right — soundtracks and art books!Rokko Chantoo has been blessed with the full media treatment!
The soundtrack, composed by ASAGEN, can be downloaded fromthis page. Just type “rokko” into the empty field at the top then click the button directly below it. You should then receive a download link for a zip file full of chiptune-y mp3s. The art book, on the other hand, is entirely Flash-based and is provided by developer King onthis page. It contains artist renderings of all the bosses and minor enemies, sprite art, and a few other nifty surprises. I’m disappointed that there isn’t a way to download a hi-res PDF version of the book, but it’s still a joy to peruse.
