Most likely due to the success of the recentFalloutTV adaptation, Bethesda announced that – after a long time waiting – thenext-gen update forFallout 4will be rolling out soon. April 25 is the exact date, if you’re interested. As well as porting the 2015 game over to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the patch will also implement some previously unreleased Creation Club content, which is pretty exciting.
However, we now turn toFallout: London. For those who don’t know, this is a fan-made project that’s been in the works for several years. It effectively turns the UK capital city into a post-apocalyptic wasteland,Fallout-style. It’s a pretty hefty mod that’s being done entirely by volunteers with no input from Bethesda.

Late last year, the team announced arelease date forFallout: London. It was scheduled to launch on April 23 to coincide with England’s St. George’s Day. However, with theFallout 4patch coming out just two days later, this has left the fan project in a bit of a sticky situation.
The long and the short of it is:Londonhas had to be delayed. In the video posted above, project lead Dean Carter has said, in no uncertain terms, that the mod will become broken onceF4gets the next-gen update. The general concern is the long-awaited patch will cause issues with the mod, but Carter is excited about the fans being able to play a better version of the mod thanks to the update.

When isFallout: Londoncoming out then?
There is no answer to this, I’m afraid. Suffice it to say, the initial April 23 release is no longer happening. Carter says towards the end of the video that the team will be working hard to get things sorted as quickly as possible. Whether this means a day one patch (i.e. on April 25 instead) or another few weeks cannot be said at this stage.
Naturally, a few of you will be saddened by this news. However, it’s important to note that delayingFallout: Londonmeans the studio can work in conjunction withFallout 4‘s upcoming quality-of-life improvements, such as widescreen support. Carter remains hopeful that the end result will be worth it, but we need to wait a little bit longer.

In terms of distribution, that’s also another complication. It seems the mod won’t be available on Nexus Mods due to its sheer size. However, the team has been in contact with GOG, so you’ll be able to download it if you haveFallout 4through that platform and possibly Steam. Maybe even through Epic Games Store as well.
Sadly, there’s little chance of a console port ofLondonever happening, based on how complicated that process will be. It’s essentially going to be a PC-exclusive mod. It is a shame it’s been delayed – and that Bethesda doesn’t appear to have been working with the team to make things more smooth – but hopefully it will only be a few weeks more, at the most.
