Role Quests are nothing new inFinal Fantasy XIV, andDawntrailhas introduced a whole new collection of them to be completed. Not only do they offer some EXP for completion, but they also provide more lore and they’re the key to unlockingmentorship.
There are five individualRole Queststo be completed, all of which cater to a particular group of Jobs:
Before you can unlock the ability to complete these individual Role Quests in Dawntrail, you’ll need to meet a couple of requirements:
Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to find the starting quest for each Job type in Xbalyav Ty’e (X:12.6, Y:14.7), Tuliyollal. However, while all of these quests begin in the same location, you’ll have to travel all over Eorzea to complete each Jobs Role Quest every two levels.
You’ll need to complete all ofDawntrail’s Role Quests if you want to pick up the Master Role Quests which are set to be added in patch 7.1.
How to complete Tank Role Quests in Dawntrail
Role Quests forTankscan be picked up by talking to Loazenikwe and accepting the level 90 quest called ‘The Narwhal Beckons’. Once this is done, you’ll need to complete the following quests:

The firstHealerRole Quest inDawntrailcan be picked up by accepting the quest ‘In the Sting of Things’ from Nyipine in Tuliyollal (X:12.0, Y:15.0). After that, the subsequent quests are as follows:
How to complete Melee DPS Role Quests in Dawntrail
The first of the Melee DPS Role Quests can be found by talking to Shashepya in Tuliyollal (X:12.8, Y:14.9) and picking up the level 90 quest ‘The Hunter and the Hunted’. After completing this quest, subsequent ones can be completed in the following order:
How to complete Physical Ranged DPS Role Quests in Dawntrail
After picking up the initial level 90 quest ‘To Steal a Steelhog’ from Raholl Ja in Tuliyollal (X:12.6, Y:15.1), you’ll be able to pick up a new Physical Ranged DPS quest every two levels. These quests in particular can be hard to keep track of, but can be found in the following locations:
How to complete Magical Ranged DPS Role Quests in Dawntrail
The first quest to complete for the Magical Ranged DPS Role Quest is called ‘Power Forgotten’ and can be picked up by talking to Tsuuhe in Tuliyollal (X:12.8, Y:14.8). Following this, subsequent quests can be picked up in the following locations:
Additional Role Quests in Dawntrail
As of the introduction of patch 7.16, additional Role Quests were added that can be picked up only after you’ve completed the level 100 MSQ quest “Dawntrail” and all of the previous Role Quests including the level 100 quests for each Role:
If all of those are checked off, you can now head back to Xbalyav Ty’e in Tuliyollal and talk to Rral Majun (X12.3, Y:14.6) to continue the Dawntrail Role Quest storyline.
There are four quests to complete in total, and they can be completed using any Job you like, rather than needing to complete them as a specific Role. Each of the four quests is relatively simple to complete, with information gathering being at the center and a surprising amount of teleporting aroundA Realm Rebornareas. There’s also a solo instanced battle that wraps up the storyline, so make sure to be prepared.

As part of completing these additional Role Quests, you’ll receive some rewards. For completing the second additional quest, “Imposing Views”, you’ll receive thePose of the Unbound emotewhich is a very dramatic, ‘no photos please’ kind of action, and you’ll need it to complete the next quest. For completing all four additional quests, you’ll be rewarded with theBright Bustle Orchestrion Roll, perfect for adding a spot of ambiance to your apartment or estate.
You’ll also get the achievement “A Passage Rebound”, which comes with the title “Sweet Justice”.
