As our Danny DeVito watch continues
All that talk about an upcoming live-actionPokémonmovie hinged on a walkin’, talkin’ Pikachuwasn’t a fever dream. It’s moving forward, and we now have a slightly better idea of what to expect. As reported byDeadline, Legendary Entertainment has locked in Rob Letterman to directDetective Pikachu, with Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) penning the script.
Letterman’s prior credits includeGoosebumps,Monsters vs. Aliens, andShark Tale, so,yeah. He’s also directing an adaptation ofCaptain Underpants, a movie whose existence I’m only now learning of (though I suppose it was only a matter of time before that property made it to the big screen).

Detective Pikachuhas my interest, but it’s more morbid curiosity than genuine enthusiasm for family-friendly entertainment. That said, knowing who’s writing the screenplay, there could be something here.
