Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Detective Pikachu Returns, andMario RPGare at the top

A little less than a week ago, Nintendo once again showed us the staying power of the Direct, and gave us a ton of announcements and a few surprise releases. We have a full recap here, but if you’re a visual learner,Nintendo recently tweeted out a full infographicof what was announced or reconfirmed; with the first-party cream rising to the top.

I’m still cautiously optimistic aboutSuper Mario Bros. Wonder(I hope the gimmicks are more than skin-deep), but based on the almost universally-positive reaction to theSuper Mario RPGrevival, I’d say that takes the highest hype spot. I mean, it’s at the top of my list too! Re-releasingPikmin 1and2was a genius move as well, as you can get the entire mainlinePikminseries on one platform now. That’s kind of become a calling card for the Nintendo Switch: a successor to the 3DS in its own right, collecting both old, new, and new-again games in one spot.

As forDetective Pikachu Returns, it’s in a super weird spot. We’re years removed from the film, and I’m the only person I know who actually played the originalDetective Pikachufrom start to finish. It’ll be interesting to see how the game performs, and if it gets another gigantic amiibo.
