Also, sales are lower
There will be no newDisney Infinityiteration this year, according to John Vignocchi, VP of production for the series. They maintain that they’re still “number one in their category,” but sales have still dropped off, according to their latest earnings report. The same could be said forthe recentSkylanders, whichalso didn’t performup to its normal standard for Activision. Nintendo’s amiibo line seems to be the only healthy option at the moment, though we don’t knowLEGO Dimension‘s full situation yet (but we do know it did better thanSkylanders).
That doesn’t meanDisney Infinityis dropping off though, as the company is still getting behind the series. There are two new characters fromZootopialaunching this week, a four player battle mode coming soon (trailer below, it’s described as “Power Stone-esque”), and more playsets are in the works. It’s a better strategy honestly, as it just means that we won’t have to buy a $60 or more starter kit every year.
