New characters, tracks, items, and a revamped Battle Mode
The Nintendo Switch presentation might be over, but news is still seeping out. As heavily rumored leading up to tonight’s event, the system will have its ownMario Karttitle. A familiar one, at that.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxeis the “definitive version” of the well-liked Wii U game with the DLC packed in and added features. It won’t be out in time for launch, but the wait for April 28 won’t be too bad.

Expect characters likeSplatoon‘s Inkling Boy and Girl, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr., plus new and returning tracks (Luigi’s Mansion fromDouble Dash!!and Battle Course 1 fromSuper Mario Kart), the ability to carry two items (such as the robbing Boo and the high-jump-enabling Feather), eight-person local multiplayer, and a “revamped” Battle Mode with Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast.
If we can agree on one thing, it’s this: the music inMario Kart 8is not messing around.
