Sci-fi shootin’ with asymmetric play

MercurySteam is following up its work onCastlevania: Lords of Shadowfor Konami with an original sci-fi “shooting and brawling” game calledRaiders of the Broken Planet, which I’ve liked the sound of it so far. Today, we’re getting a look at it with a trailer that properly introduces a few characters.

“Lycus Dion is a cocky hands on type of character who isn’t afraid to get up close and personal but this often land him in trouble,” says senior producer Dave Cox. “Big guy Konstantin is a burly Russian who is always on hand to save Lycus when he goes too far. Alicia on the other hand is a crazy Aussie who ends up saving the both of them and the mysterious antagonist at the end is a just a hint at the key feature the game has to offer in multiplayer mode – four vs. one antagonist.”

I’m not sure how I feel about the tone in this trailer, but the promise of asymmetric multiplayer (“Fight the invaders solo, team up with other Raiders, or turn the tables and storm into battle with those invaders fighting at your side”) is enough of an appeal to keep me following along for now.
