Happy 50th, Disney World

Disney World is a comfort for many of us who have been lucky enough to attend it, but between the pandemic andrising costs of tickets, the park is harder to get to than ever. If we can’t celebrate 50th anniversary of the most magical place on Earth in person, then, at least we can do it virtually inMinecraft.

That’s right,Minecraftnow has an official Disney World DLC pack, not to be confused with thefan-made map of Magic Kingdomthat has been around for a few years. It’snot the first timeDisney has collaborated withMinecraft, but this is by far the most substantial project they’ve put out together. Players will be able to explore a perfect replica of the park, which is not limited to actual working attractions that they can ride on, and include classics like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and more.

Just when you thought that was awesome enough, there’s more, as the pack also includes wearables and items like the iconic Mickey Mouse Ear Headbands and Spirit Jerseys. Famous food items from the park are also available for purchase in-game, like the Dole Whip, my personal favorite treat to pick up when I’m at Disney.

There are also 29 different Disney and Pixar characters around the map that players can meet during their virtual visit, as well as 25 themed skins that the players can adorn themselves. Of course, for the ultimate immersive experience of WDW, there are also fireworks in front of Cinderella’s castle at the end of each day.

So the DLC may not be free, as it’ll run you 1,340 Minecoins, or about $10 in real money, but it sounds like a pretty good value for what you’re getting. Hell, I don’t even playMinecraftanymore, but as a theme park enthusiast who can’t afford to take more than one or two trips to the park a year these days, it could be the perfect opportunity to get my fix from the comfort of my own home.
