Valve’s Steam Deck has been something of a big deal in the mobile gaming arena. Team Fortress 2sdays: Australian punch-fest

Every Tuesday a bunch of us Dtoiders get together and hop online to play some Team Fortress 2 on theofficial Destructoid server! You should join us! Have you guys ever heard of the game type VS Saxton Hale? No? Neither had I. What happens in this beautiful mod is simple: everyone on the server teams up to kill one player who assumes the form of Saxton Hale. That’s right, SAXTON-FREAKING-HALE! It’s a bit like fighting a tank in Left 4 Dead, but the tank is ruggedly handsome, Australian, and made entirely of manly cosmic-energy....

TERA is being shutdown for good soon

It’ll run until the end of June Just three months afterTERAwas obliterated in Japan, the game is shutting down for good worldwide. The fullTERAshutdown will happen on June 30 at 4AM ET. Announced on Twitter by the sole remaining publisher(Gameforge), the reason for the shutdown is very clear: “TERA‘s developers [Bluehole Studio] have decided to cease work” on the game. At that point it doesn’t really matter how much work you do as a publisher as development is done, including future content and the stewardship of the current iteration, all the way down to bug support....

The Crew is getting a two-hour trial, upgradable to the final version

Go hit the hoad Starting this week, both PS4 and Xbox One owners can go grab a free version of Ubisoft’s new open-world racer,The Crew. It’s a two-hour trial of sorts, and if you want to buy the full game you can continue your progress. While the story elements and character development is highly questionable, I enjoyed the free roaming bits. It’s really fun to just drive around the ridiculously proportioned US map and get into trouble or race random players online....

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes almost showed its big bad monster

Something with night vision is slinking around in the dark AfterMan of Medanand especiallyLittle Hope, which had a div-i-sive ending, I’m curious to see how Supermassive Games framesHouse of Ashes— and how the supernatural elements will manifest. The next standalone game in theDark Pictures Anthologyhas revealed more of its buried Sumerian temple setting, the “awakened” evil, and the folks we’ll attempt to keep alive (for a few hours, anyway). Today’s video is just a teaser trailer, and Bandai Namco says it will share the gameplay reveal on May 27....

The Indie Fundhas opened its doorsas of today. There’s a call for submissions, with emphasis put on having a unique game, playable prototype, living-the-dream-style development team (lots of ramen consumption), and the chance to earn the investment money back....

Ubisoft swipes Guitar Hero developer FreeStyleGames from Activision

They’re now Ubisoft Leamington Guitar Hero Livewas a fantastic rhyhtm game that breathed new life into the genre for me after nearly a decade of safe plays from developers like Harmonix. But a lot of things were going against it — the “live” gimmick was off-putting for some, you had to buy all new hardware (something Harmonix is still dealing with), it had microtransactions, and theGuitar Heroname had already been dragged so far through the mud it was tough to come back....

Where to find the Merrymore hidden treasure chest in Super Mario RPG

As has been tradition since the days of Shakespeare, a classical comedy must contain a wedding of some kind. And a slightly lesser-known tradition is that all wedding venues like Merrymore inSuper Mario RPGmust have at least one hidden treasure box to uncover. I think that was inOthello. Anyway, if you’re here, that means you want to know where the hidden treasure chest in Merrymore is. Fortunately, this one’s pretty easy to find once you know where to look....
