So, how did Destructoid’s most anticipated games of 2018 turn out?

Mine was grrrrrrrreat You can’t always win. That’s a lesson I learned early in life when my parents taught me how to bet on the ponies. I was never good at picking which horse would finish first, but I was basically a savant at picking which one would end up last. Our lives are dotted with choices that didn’t necessarily turn out the way we expected them to. That movie we were excited to see turned out to be a goose or that TV show returning for a new season ended up far more disappointing than we expected....

The Memory Card .55: The fate of Lucca’s mother

Here’s the scenario: You are playing a videogame and reach an unexpected gameplay twist. Confronted with a timed sequence, your taken-by-surprise skills fail you and the sequence ends unsuccessfully, resulting in an irreparably tragic set of circumstances. Unfortunately, this being a retro game, there is no autosave at a nearby checkpoint. If you restart the game to retry the sequence you will have to go back quite a ways to the last save point....

Even thoughBejeweled Twisthas a totally new game play mechanism, at first glance, I did not think it would be any more difficult or challenging than its predecessors were....

I’ve never enjoyed overly difficult games; I play games to relax, not spike my blood pressure. But there’s this one game you may not have heard about that’s crushingly difficult, yet weirdly offers a relaxing experience at the same time....

Yup, I still hate Guile in Street Fighter V

I still love his theme, though Guile, it’s nothing personal, but I hate you. You just…don’t jive with what I like to do. You’re very straight-laced and stone-faced, and I like my fighters on the wackier side. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I think you’re better than ever before. I love what you’ve done to try and distance yourself from your past. But the fact of the matter is, despite everything, you’re still you....
