The city-building sequel from developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox Interactive is now live, and hurdles concerningCities Skylines 2performance woes and optimization are the talk of the town. Another indie Wii U game, woo! Cosmochoriawas initially only set for the PC, but it just hit its Wii U stretch goal after reaching $25,000 on Kickstarter. The PC version is apparently complete, but the same code can be used for a “buildable” Wii U version with platform-specific controls. The developer notes that it will keep everyone up to date on the console version, and June is marked as the earliest possible experimentation date....

From Software is sticking with current-gen for this adventure Despite the success of its predecessor, I was not necessarily expecting aDark Souls IIso soon, and I certainly wasn’t expecting to see it get announced at the 2012 Spike VGAs of all places. Amazing! I was actually convinced the trailer was for the nextDragon Age. Namco Bandai has made the announcement as well, confirming that this game is for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3....

Dying for a living Sony Interactive and Kojima Productions have dropped a new character trailer for upcoming odysseyDeath Stranding.The two-minute video introduces us to the character of Heartman. The clip was previously shown to audiences at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con event. InDeath Stranding, Heartman plays a BRIDGES associate who spends his time living in short 21-minute periods. After his heart stops at the pre-allocated time, Heartman spends three minutes searching for his family in the great unknown before being automatically resurrected by a defibrillator attached to his chest....

Steel Strider blasts off this fall Chances are you’re unfamiliar with Astro Port, which is equal parts understandable and unfortunate. Japanese independent studios don’t get lavished with attention (something we’re trying to change), and Astro Port’s wares aren’t exactly the flashiest games around. However, despite their spartan appearances,Gigantic ArmyandSupercharged Robot Vulkaiserboth impressed me quite a bit. Astro Port seems to have a knack for delivering nostalgia-drenched shoot-’em-ups, a trend that looks to continue with its latest effort to release in the West,Steel Strider....

Did anyone else forget about this? Honestly, I had completely forgotten aboutDrawn to Deathuntil today. The last we heard of David Jaffe’s (Twisted Metal, God of War) kooky arena shooter was in 2014, but I’m glad to see it alive and kicking. Drawn to Deathis an arena shooter taking place in some disturbed teenager’s rowdy notebook. Given the nature of weapons like a fire-breathing dragon head, or characters named things like “Diablo Tijuana,” Jaffe designed a game directly for the audience who’ve been waiting to go on anotherTwisted Metalbender....

Dune Awakening, the upcoming Dune MMO, has pushed back its release date by a month, the dev team has confirmed on social media—meaning the release will coincide with one of the biggest launches of the year. The MMO is now set to go live on June 10, with head start launching on June 5. This putsDune Awakeningon a collision course with the Nintendo Switch 2 launch,Mario Kart World, andDeltarune, in what is becoming an already stacked June schedule of new game releases....

Less than a week after I got to play the newhandheld port ofEarth Defense Forces 3 Portablein Japan, it has been announced throughthe game’s official Twitter accountthat the title will be finding its way to my home region! Re-dubbedEarth Defense Force 2017 Portableto match the naming over here, the new release will support four players in online multiplayer, features new missions and adds the flying, “Pale Wing” character type. The bug-popping action is currently set to go off in winter of 2013....

XCOM 2 is still in February, though! Eidos Montreal has pushed the release ofDeus Ex: Mankind Dividedto Jul 14, 2025. A fairly substantial delay, considering the game was previously slated for February (and, heh, remember thatcanned pre-order programthat would have let people play four days early?). “We’re confident and proud of the game so far,” said studio head David Anfossi. “However, as we are now playing through the game in full we can see that it will require more time in post-production for tuning, iterations, and refinement to meet our high standards....

The update hits today I’ve been playingFortniteweekly for…a long time now, and generally, I favor the Switch. Fortnitehas been one of my go-to “wind down” games at night, and my wife and I play together portably basically wherever we want. A few missions here, some battle progress there, it’s a good chill out experience. I just got another Victory Royale last night, actually! But while it is fun for sure, the Switch port has been lagging behind since it launched....

Gears of War 2-ownin’ Xbox LIVE Silver members are getting a special treat courtesy of Epic Games and Microsoft this weekend. According to theGears 2Web site, multiplayer is — in a sense — free for the weekend. Until 11:59 on August 3rd, Silver members can playGears 2multiplayer without having to upgrade to a Gold account. Gold members should smell blood in the water. Think about the wonderful statistical-boosting opportunity Epic just handed you....

Funimation As an anime fan growing up, dubs were often hit or miss. Not a whole lot of companies took their dubwork seriously, and often times, I’d resort to subtitles to get my anime fix. But over the years, pretty much every major company has stepped up their game, and there’s hardly a dub I wouldn’t listen to — that goes forBayonetta Bloody Fatetoo, based on this new trailer. Although the quality of the film itself may be questionable overall depending on who you talk to, this looks completely watchable....

And not much else I’m surprised at how much I’m still playingGuitar Hero Live. It’s really easy for me to boot up the TV function and just play random songs, which cycle in new tracks on a constant basis. I have over a hundred “free plays” and I rarely use them — I think the system really works. Starting tomorrow, a few new songs (below) will be added to the game....
