Review: Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, by J.S. Sterling

WhenDynasty Warriors: Strikeforcewas released for the PSP, the biggest complaint I had was the lack of online multiplayer. The game was one of the deepest, most accomplished Warriors game made yet, but it was designed entirely around multiplayer. Not a bad idea, until you remember how hard it is to find somebody with both a PSP and a love forDynasty Warriors. Strikeforcehas now come to home consoles, not only bringing AI-controlled allies to help against the game’s many brutal stages, but bringing the one thing it truly needed — online multiplayer....

Smash glitch lets you control eight characters at once

Not sure yet why you would want to Super Smash Bros.on Wii U was a pretty polished game at launch, with very little in the way of bugs and glitches. Still, this has not stopped people digging around in the game seeing what corners and cracks they can find hidden in its depths. If you’ve ever for some weird reason wanted to control eightSmashcharacters at the same time, with the same controller, well a newly discovered glitch will apparently make this possible....

The Cookie Crumbles Capcom and food company Ezaki Glico has announced a collaboration to bring theStreet Fighter Vfaithful, the “Pocky K.O. Challenge,” a bizarre spot of in-game marketing that combines the hard-fighting action of the most famous fighting franchise of all time with the popular thin, chocolate-covered sticks. The rules are simple, yet frightening. Players must allow their health to be reduced to the point where the health bar matches the chocolate-to-biscuit ratio of a standard Pocky stick, and then win to fight to score a special “Pocky K....

The Angry Birds movie has a bonus level that involves using your phone in the theater

During the credits I uh…don’t hate this idea? So theAngry Birdsmovie (that hits theaters tomorrow) isactually doing pretty okay critically, and this extra tidbit involved that makes this video game adaption a bit more gamey. According to Rovio, attendees can unlock a special level called “Piggy Island” by whipping out their phones during the film. Thankfully the publicity stunt is limited to the credits, so that far future dystopian ideaof texting during filmsis not quite upon us yet....

The PS3 and Wii ads in Japan suck

What does a fork, an electric outlet, and a factory have to do with the PS3? As far as I’m concerned, nothing. So why are the majority of the commercials, in Japan (and America too) all completely ridiculous? As a consumer, I do not care that a PS3 canexploderubixcubes, make baby demons, or make Japanese chicks get hypnotized by forks. The style of all the ads makes me believe that they are just trying to appease the fans that know what the system is all about already....

The Visual Effects of Portal: No Escape

You probably didn’t notice Jonathan Skabla’s name amid the slew of credits at the end ofPortal: No Escape, the recently released short by Dan Trachtenberg ofThe Totally Rad Show. He might be a faceless animator to you, but to me he’s my best pal. He’s the guy who’d greet me on Tuesday afternoon with a beer and a copy ofStreets of Rage 2.Jon has moved on and up since our days of sharing a squalid apartment....

Everybody knowsSnake. It has assumed many forms, has appeared on every platform from cell phones to friggin’ Gmail. It’s a videogame constant likeMinesweeper— it justis.
