A result of Nintendo’s company-wide restructuring Nintendo subsidiary Brownie Brown announced today on itshomepagethat the dev house is undergoing some changes, which includes a new company name: “1-UP Studio.” The old Brownie Brown page will remain active until June 23, 2025, but exactly how else the studio has been affected is still unknown. You may best remember Brownie Brown, formed in 2000, as one of the co-developers ofMother 3. In addition, the handheld-focused studio has contributed to twoManagames,Blue Dragon Plus,Super Mario 3D Land, and the recent Japanese 3DS hitFantasy Life....

Also, Minecraft Wii U It’s not a bad week for Nintendo systems, as Cloud’s appearance inSuper Smash Bros. (and his Midgar stage) highlight the Wii U and 3DS offerings. Also on Wii U isMinecraft: Wii U Edition(sadly without GamePad inventory management),Temple of Yog, Mega Man Zero 4, Mega Man Battle Network 5(ColonelandProtoman), andIsland Flight Simulator. Beyond theSmashDLC the 3DS is a bit light though, withThe Legend of Dark Witch 2, andThe Delusions of Von Sottendorff and His Square Mind....

After areally vague teaserin the last Nintendo Direct, Nintendohas revealedmore details on the previously unnamedPrincess Peach: Showtime. Princess Peach: Showtimehas the eponymous heroine going up against Grape and the Sour Bunch, which I absolutely love. It’s set up as a series of stage plays, taking on different themes and providing Peach with a different transformation. A number of the transformations were shown off, including swashbuckler, patisserie, and detective, among others. Afterward, it was teased that there are more transformations beyond just what was shown....

There’s a meta-narrative at play you could miss There isn’t a lot I can say aboutDetroit: Become Humanbefore it launches, but there is one thing that you’ll immediately see after booting up the game that’s worth talking about. Without spoiling anything, the main menu operates as a sort of meta-narrative, occasionally commenting on your choices as well as offering up questions of its own. Most notably you can take a short survey pertaining to your own views on artificial lifeforms, which in turn showcases answer percentages from players....

Speaking as a massive fan of theOnimushaseries, I’ve always been puzzled as to why Capcom hasn’t brought out a new one since 2006’sDawn of Dreams. According to Capcom’s Christian Svensson, neitherOnimushanor the similarly absentDino Crisisare forgotten, but their returns are rather unlikely for the time being. “For the time being I think it’s in percolate mode, that is to say, it’s not forgotten internally, there are discussions that go on, but I don’t think anyone has sort has come up with the ‘that’s it’ idea of how to get the game back up to 3 or 4 million units,” he admits....

The amiibo experience regresses again We’ve had quite a few horrible amiibo experiences, but for the most part, the last few years have been smooth sailing. As of yesterday thoughthe Solaire amiibohas slid right in to complicate things again. Remember when exclusive amiibo deals were basically the only way the figures were released? That era when retailers at the corporate level had no clue how to actually roll out this highly in-demand items, and would often drop a five-minute window pre-order session at 2AM Eastern with no warning?...
