Apparently a family in Michigan didn’t get the memo that the original Xbox runs fairly hot (like its big brother) and possesses a power cord that can cause fires. Subsequently, the eight-pound console has toasted their house and business. The fire started on August 25 as a result of a son who forgot to turn off his console and decided that the best place for his notebook was right next to the Xbox’s ventilation ducts....

DENIED, SUCKAS! Nintendo made Miiverse accessible via PC and mobile browsersyesterday, giving you the chance to interact with the (not so wide) Wii U online community while away from your console. But as Nintendo notes at the bottom of theMiiverse page, “[S]ome devices may not be able to access it.” What devices, you ask? Why, the Wii U and 3DS browsers, of course! Why you would want to visit the Miiverse website on the Wii U when the native app is sitting right there, I have no idea....

The newXbox 360 Dashboard, which was first announced back during E3, was given a Fall release window. We now know that Microsoft is expecting a November 25th launch date. The new dashboard will be much cleaner and easy to navigate, and will also feature new partner services such as Bing search (don’t even pretend to be surprised), YouTube and Lovefilm. According to the same source that spilled the release date, Xbox apps will run using a modified version of Silverlight....

The cutest quiz game ever, basically After years of waiting (seriously), OtherWise Games has finished their development onMovieCat 2, the sequel to the originalMovieCat. It’s ostensibly a quiz game, involving text and graphical questions about new and old films. The best part is that it supports two-players and a ton of variety, hosting exercises like naming the films a set of costumes are from, or picking out a scene consisting entirely of cats in place of humans....
