PC Port Report: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Smooth like Big Boss’ skin-tight suit It’s hard to know what a PC port of aMetal Gear Solidgame will look like in 2014.Revengeancehad a decent port, but that was done by Platinum. The lastMetal Geargame to hit our Home Computers was over a decade ago, so they aren’t anything to go off of, either. Ravens RB Ray Rice voted onto NFL Blitz digital ‘cover’

If there’s a marketing opportunity to be exploited, you can bet that Spike and the producers of the network’s annual Video Game Awards will be there to take advantage of it — no matter how absurd it may seem. I can just imagine the conversation that took place between them and EA Sports’ marketing department a few weeks ago: EA Sports:As you know, we just announced that we’re making anewNFL Blitzgame....

Runescape 3 pops into existence this summer

And you won’t even need a new account My first foray into the world ofRunescapewas a less than successful one. I was a wee bit lost, chopping wood and not really knowing what to do with it, when I asked a friendly looking chap for a bit of advice. He promptly made a disparaging remark about my mother, killed me, and stole my wood. Every now and then I’d go back, check it out for a couple of weeks, and then something else would grab my attention and I’d forget all about it....

Someone left a SNES switched on for 20 years to preserve a save file

Umihara Kawase’s worth it, apparently Back during the days of the Game Boy and SNES, games would save progress using a small on-board battery. It was great at the time, however, unfortunately, those things only have a limited lifespan, and in the last few years they’ve been beginning to die. I was weirdly heartbroken when I found out my copy ofPokemon Redhad died, and with it all the Pokemon I’d held onto for the better part of 15 years....

The Hero Trap lets you play as a berserk luchador bear

Also an eyepatch-wearing pyromaniac, among others “Lightning fast dungeon crawler” may seem like an oxymoron, but the trailer above forThe Hero Trapshows what it means by that: frenetic action gameplay within an ever-changing combination of dungeon arenas. To be honest, I was ready to write this one off, but the unique set of characters is what hooked me. Rather than the tired old fantasy archetypes of knight, archer, mage, and the like,The Hero Trapboasts unique heroes like a flamethrower-wielding pyro or a bear wearing a luchador mask....

The winner of Dtoid’s best portable game of 2012

Best of 2012 Despite potentially valid complaints that portable systems just don’t get enough games, it remained a nonetheless close-fought battle for best handheld experience of 2012. The libraries may not be as varied and robust as consoles and PC, but when a portable game is quality, it isbloodyquality. Every nomination for this category was highly deserving, but now is the time to announce the ultimate winner. First, here’s a brief reminder of all games in the running:...

Watch Dogs will be late on Wii U to ‘make full use of the platform’

Still no specific date, but maybe this year I’m increasingly of the opinion that nothing short of a miracle will save thedelayed Wii U versionof the already-delayedWatch Dogs. Ubisoft announced a July 14, 2025 release date for every other version of the game today. What, exactly, is holding up the Wii U release? “Yeah it’s still alive,” senior producer Dominic Guay toldPolygon. “We have our studio in Bucharest working on it, and we wanted that team to have the time to explore the GamePad and be able to have fun with it and see how far they could push it....

Assassin’s Creed III and Colossus art pieces are so boss

Freelance artist Chad Gowey sent us some goodies the other day, but silly me, I completely forgot about them until now. If you may find it in your heart to forgive me, I think you’ll enjoy Chad’s brilliant pieces! Behold, “Assassin’s Creed III” and “Shadow” (the latter based onShadow of the Colossus, of course). I don’t think I need to say much about how incredible these are. I’ll let them speak for themselves....
