Actually, it’s notquiteasCastlevaniaasCastlevania, but that was a snappy headline and GameLoft’s recently released DSiWare game is pretty damn shameless in the rip-off department. Still, that’s GameLoft for you — I don’t think theyhaveany original ideas, but there are few companies better at giving us familiar gaming experiences on unfamiliar gaming platforms. Soul of Darknessis available on DSiWare and, as you can see from the video, it doesn’t even attempt to hide itsCastlevaniainfluences....

Here are four new screenshots for Obsidian’sSouth Park: The Stick of Truth, otherwise known as the one thing Microsoft showed at its press conference worth getting excited for. I am seriously looking forward to the game, though I always find it hilarious when people praise it for looking exactly like the show. Given the fact thatSouth Parkis supposed to look cheap and poorly animated, it shouldn’t be hard to make a modern videogame resemble the series....

I want to be hugged by those arms Although I’ve been enjoyingevery character revealthus far forInjustice 2, something’s been missing. I’ve been hyped regardless, but none of the characters had “wowed” me yet. That is, until now. Coming off of a recent boon to his popularity from appearances in animated films likeJustice League Dark(which was A-OK in my book because they fought a poop monster) and just being generally DC Comics’ version of Shrek as he hates folks lazing about in his swamp, is Swamp Thing with the coolest moveset and animations so far....

A mini-series During today’s E3 YouTube stream, Telltale Games announcedThe Walking Dead: Michonne. It’s a three-episode mini-series starring the titular character from the comic/TV show, and will explain what she was up to after being missing from various timelines. Not many details are known, but she will be playable in this series. It will release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Android, and iOS, and you’ll needthe first episode ofThe Walking Dead: Season Twoto play....

Octo-Boss and Talus Lord There’s anotherBreath of the Wild Second Windfan modupdate out in the wild, which is taking on the gargantuan task of providing 12 boss battles through the “Labors of the Hero” questline. Modshave been a longstanding tradition in theBreath of the Wildcommunity, but Second Wind continues to amaze me. The newest clips on the block include the “Octo-Boss” and “Talus Lord” battles, which are repurposed confrontations from existing assets, done in a very clever way....

Console versions to follow in June ZeniMax Online Studios has come out with a suitably memorable release date forThe Elder Scrolls Online: Jul 23, 2025 (aka 4.4.14). That’s when the massively multiplayer online role-playing game will arrive on PC and Mac — hopefully without too many launch-window issues. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are coming a bit later in June. Glad to have this news out of the way, but it’s the new trailer I’m more interested in....

New mid-bosses Odin Sphere: Leifthrasiris in the works for the PS3, PS4, and Vita, and it will be an HD remake of the original PS2 classic. As such, it will include a “Classic Mode” that will preserve the experience. Vanillaware is adding mid-bosses that weren’t in the PS2 version, Cross-Save, the controls will be updated to be more “Muramasa-like,” and enemies from the original will have new “thought logic” in the updated mode....

Clever joke about zombies Overkill’s The Walking Deadhasn’t been met with the best reception. Aconfused messof a shooter, the game’s main hook is its co-op gameplay and with a lack of players, it’s hard to see what the true intention of the entire endeavor really is. In a move to get more people playing, a new starter edition of the game is available for purchase. Going for $30,Overkill’s The Walking Dead Starter Editionis available on each platform....

In honor of the space bugs orphaned by the EDF Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Spirit system ispretty much what I expected and hoped for. These glowy friends enable the little childish joy of metaphorically fighting against or alongside countless characters that didn’t quite make the cut into the playable roster, and it’s one of the aspects that putsUltimateapart from otherSmashgames. The system does have some baffling omissions — none of the Spirits have written descriptions explaining their origins (like trophies from previous games) and you’re able to’t freely replay battles against Spirits you own — but I’m finding the system to be a fun way to expandSmash’s celebration of gaming history, especially when it’s put in the forefront ofUltimate’s single-player content....

Live-action short “The All-Star” revealed All of thoseSony teaserswe’ve seen over this last week have been leading up to this final reveal tonight. You all guessed right: It was to promote upcoming gamePlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. This is the full live-action short they’ve been teasing, called “The All-Star.” It comes from the people behind last year’s “Michael,” as you’ve probably guessed.
