Square Enix trademarks ‘Shinra Company’

Dunnn…dun…dun… Everyone remembers the iconic Shinra theme fromFinal Fantasy VII. The shadowy, sleazy company is probably one of the most interesting parts of the game, and members of the organization even make their way into spinoffs likeAdvent Children. Square Enix seems to be up to something, as they’ve trademarked “Shinra Company” for use in Japan — with the intention of using it in a videogame. Not a whole lot is known at this point, but maybe we’ll see a spinoff with the Turks, or, you know —anotherfree-to-play browser/mobile game....

There’s a new Final Fantasy VII Remake Tifa PS4 theme, but it’s wrapped up in a candy marketing scheme

Is it worth it? So it has come to this. Remember the Butterfinger “Who Shot Mr. Burns?”Simpsonspromotion? This is kind of like that, but forFinal Fantasy. We’ve reached the point where video games are just as much of a part of popular culture as other mediums, so they can have their Butterfinger promo too. This one actually involves a Tifa PS4 dynamic theme, showcasing just Tifa (though Cloud is present too in the game) in a scene that’s frequently referred to as“Promise at the Water Tower....

This new Doom Eternal trailer both rips and/or tears

Still due in March after a delay I hope that extra little delay helped id Software makeDoom Eternalthat much shinier come March, but based on this new trailer, it seems like it did the trick. This newly revealed footage gives us a look at the Gladiator and Marauder enemies, as well as the Crucible weapon and a collection of glory kills (one of the only aspects I nitpicked inDoom2016). As expected, id is going deeper into the story angle here, which was done masterfully in the last iteration in a way that felt like great worldbuilding without hamstringing the action....
