TheSilent Hill 2remake is on the horizon, and I didn’t know what to make of it for the longest time. Credit where credit is due, I find the dense amount of mind fog preventing me from gauging my own hype for it to be an aptly positive sign, but it’s Bloober team’s latest update that really made me feel like this could be the real deal. I’ve been following theSilent Hillseries ever since Konami included a demo for the original game in the original PAL package ofMetal Gear Solid....

Nintendo’s Wii and the motion control trend that followed gave seemed like the game industry’s answer to inactive youth. As games have grown in popularity, kids have spent less and less time outside and, logically, “active” games are the solution. According to a study out of Baylor College in Houston, Texas, this isn’t necessarily the case. Researchers outfitted 78 children with a Wii and a game of either the active, or inactive persuasion, fitted them withaccelerometers, and watched as the active group showed little-to-no improvement over the inactive group with both averaging between 25 and 30 minutes of activity per day....

Fibbage 3! Fans of the irreverent and hilariousJackbox Party Packwill be happy to know that a new installment of the series is coming this year. Aptly dubbedThe Jackbox Party Pack 4, the only thing known about this newest entry is that it will featureFibbage 3. Along with new questions for the lie detector game, the number of answers is seeing an increase from nine to ten. No platforms are currently known, but seeing as how the previous game landed on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Mac and Amazon Fire devices, I think it is safe to assume those are on the table....

That’s what this video tells me Capcom-Unity has posted this new video pointing out some of the cameos, references and easter eggs one could discover inStrider. The franchise has a long history, despite how relatively few releases have come in that time, and this video shows how mindful the developers were of that. There’s at least a little something included from almost every game in the series just in what’s shown here....

Fan re-arrangements of every numbered Mega Man game I’ve professed my love for the Sega Genesis’ music capabilities numerous times, but people still look at me like I’m taking crazy pills. I am dead serious! I love the grungy, metallic sound of FM synth! It was the dressing that gave Sega the harder edge in comparison to Nintendo way back in the day. So obviously I enjoy good FM arrangements of non-Sega games....

The latest and most exciting title from the maker of several modernized retro titles is taking a swing at its first original game, and judging from my playtime with it, it may be a banger. Publisher and dev Dotemu has done an exceptional job in “modernizing classic gameplay” with titles likeTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s RevengeandStreets of Rage 4, butAbsolumis its first-ever original IP. And after playing the demo early ahead of its arrival during Steam Next Fest, I’m all aboard the hype train....

I’ve always been baffled by the fact that no Tim Schafer games have ever made it to a Nintendo console (that I know of anyway). The man’s irreverent sense of humor, general rejection of realistic visuals, and a focus on absurdity have always seemed like a good fit for Nintendo’s audience. I was sure that the allegedBrutal LegendWii port was going to sell at least as well as the 360/PS3 versions....
