Blow off some steam, punch some chumps
Last week, we reported on some leaksthat suggestedSNK Playmore’sKing of Fighters XIIIwould follow the trajectory of many contemporary fighters and end up on Steam. That has in fact happened. The Steam release touts, “vastly improved netcode,” to abet online play and all comes bundled with all previously released DLC.
The gorgeous 2D fighter is listed on Steam at $29.99, though you’re able to pre-purchase until September 13 for $24.99. While the game isn’t slated to release until September 13, a lucky 300 users can also get in on a closed beta for the game by enteringhere. The website notes the drawing will be a lottery, “if the number of applicants exceed 300 people.” I guess they’re not expecting demand to be all that high. At least not out of the gate.

Any PC-only people looking to pick this one up? I’m terrible at fighters, but dug the heck out ofKing of Fighters XIIIwhen it was release free on PS+. The animation and sprite work are phenomenal. It’s also plenty fun, despite my lack of skill.
