Both Peter and Miles are not to be trifled with when it comes to combat, though they sometimes prefer going the silent but violent route. Stealth is useful when you want to get rid of enemies without raising too much commotion, or if you want to thin out the enemy packs before taking them head-on.

Stealth basics in Spider-Man 2

If you’re above your enemies, they generally can’t see you. This makes it useful to perch high up and survey the battlefield before acting. From your vantage point, you may take down foes, but if you’re seen, the baddies will attack.

You’ll know when enemies are onto you when a diamond appears above their heads and starts getting colored yellow. You can still escape during this grace period if you’re able to sneak back into the shadows. If you are spotted, you can switch to combat, or you can try to hide until your pursuers lose track of you.

You have two main ways of stealthily eliminating enemies. One is the perch takedown which you can do from above. It lifts your foe and leaves them hanging from your web. The web strike takedown can be performed from further away, but it has the disadvantage of having you zip to the ground where you might be seen. It also leaves a knocked-out body on the ground which could alert enemies that you’re around.

Deal with the drones and snipers first

There are a few varieties of enemies but you’ll want to deal with drones and snipers first. The drones are annoying as they fly around, making them much more likely to spot you. The snipers are usually well-positioned, so taking them out reduces your odds of being seen.

When in doubt, switch to Miles Morales

Both Spider-Men are capable of stealth, but Miles is better at this. This is primarily because of his camouflage ability that allows him to go temporarily invisible. It won’t always be possible to decide who you’re going to play as, but when you do have the choice, and you want to go the stealth route, then Miles is your man.

Create new opportunities with web lines

Sometimes, you’ll come upon a large area swarming with enemies. The environment will provide you with some opportunities to silently eliminate your foes, but some won’t be reachable this way. Fortunately, you can create web lines above the playing field to help get in the perfect position for your takedown.

Regardless of where you’re perched, remember to check whether it’s safe to string up bad guys before making your move. You can do this by pressing R3 on your DualSense, which will reveal which foes are being watched and which are safe to pick off.

Stealth upgrades to unlock

There are a few ways you’re able to improve your stealth abilities, provided you have sufficient Hero Tokens, City Tokens, and Tech Parts to purchase the upgrades. Simply open up the menu and navigate to Suit Tech. Here, you’ll want to scroll to the Focus upgrades. These are the ones you should work on acquiring:

With these tips, you should be ready to silently slay your enemies without raising an alarm. You’ll find that stealth gameplay comes in handy, and it offers a more cerebral approach to clearing the battlefield.
