Makin’ Baiken

Yesterday, Christmas came early for The Industry’s Chris Moyse, as not only did we get the reveal ofmy favoriteSkullgirlscharacter, Black Dahlia, but we also got a teaser confirming that, finally, mighty swordswoman Baiken is headed to Arc System Works’Guilty Gear Strive. The one-eyed warrior comes a’wandering as a DLC character in January.

Baiken’s reveal was made as part of the CEO fighting game festivities, which took place in Orlando, Florida over the course of the weekend. No gameplay footage for Baiken was revealed, but her fans (yer boy included) got all in a tizzy thanks to an exciting teaser trailer, which sees Baiken wandering stoically to battle, ready to get head-lopping on her hapless opponents. The buxom warrior strikes a pose, bringing the teaser to the end. Squeeeee!

Baiken’s lastGuilty Gearappearance — inGuilty Gear Xrd Rev.2— kept fans waiting a whopping three years for her arrival, so to her have her arrive within the first year, if not at launch, is somewhat of a blessing, at least. In the preceding months, die-hard fans have been able to play as the mighty fighter in SNK’sSamurai Shodown, which featured Baiken as a guest character —a role that obviously fit her like a glove. Still, it’s fantastic to see Baiken return home. I’m just too dang old to learn all of these bloody fighting games again.

Just when I thought I was out…
