The Pokémon Company has announced its intentions to acquire the company responsible for the printing of itsPokémon Trading Card Gamemedia. The company has already fully entered into an agreement to purchase Millennium Print Group, situated in North Carolina, for an undisclosed sum.
Millennium Print Grouphas been responsible for the manufacturer ofPokémon Trading Card Gameproducts since 2015, producing themuch sought-aftercards for the popular pastime, which recently hit its 25th anniversary. The purchase of the firm by The Pokémon Company reflects the company’s commitment and faith in thePokémonfranchise.
“The talented team at Millennium Print Group has been an important partner to The Pokémon Company International for many years, helping us bring thePokémon Trading Card Gameto our fans with the quality they expect,” said Pokémon Company International president Kenji Okuboin a press statement.
“By joining forces in a more meaningful way, our goal is to enhance the ways our organisations work together and continue to bring the highest quality Pokémon TCG products to market. Simultaneously, we aim to develop Millennium into an even better, bigger, state-of-the-art version of their already exceptional organisation, benefitting not justPokémon, but all of their customers.”
As of 2022, it is believed some 35 billionPokémoncards have been sold worldwide. Clearly, The Pokémon Company expects this staggering figure to run and run in the new decade and beyond.
