The floor is lava
Timawak Shrine is, in my opinion, one of the most enjoyable shrines inTears of the Kingdom. It’s a classic puzzle shrine that requires ingenuity and some thinking outside of the box. Of course, that means it can be pretty tricky to beat each section. However, fear not. We’ve covered everything you need to know to complete Timawak Shrine below. But first, let’s take a look at how to find it.
How to find Timawak Shrine inTears of the Kingdom
Timawak Shrine is located in the Eldin Canyon region of Hyrule. It’s just slightly to the north of Bedrock Bistro. The closest fast travel point for most players on their way to Timawak is Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower. If you use the tower, you can glide north, heading just past Bedrock Bistro near Goronbi Lake. The shrine’s green glow is pretty easy to spot from the air as it sits on a cliff overlooking the Bistro. Check the screenshot above for the exact location of the shrine on the map.
How to complete Timawak Shrine
The theme of Timawak Shrine is lava. That makes the first obstacle in the shrine a fitting opening. Here, we have a lava river with water pouring on it at intervals to create stones. Link can cross the stones in a couple of different ways. you may channel Frogger and hop across the lava river by jumping from stone tablet to stone tablet. Or, if you’re a little more safety conscious, you can use Ultrahand to build yourself a bridge out of the stone pieces. The choice is yours!
After crossing the river, you’ll be confronted by a construct with a bow and arrow. you may take care of it with your own bow and arrow or by using melee. It doesn’t hit too hard, so don’t worry about this guy. Two or three headshots with your bow should kill it.

After taking care of the pesky construct, you’ll need to cross another lava river to get the ball that opens the next room. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple of a task as before. The lava is flowing towards you, which makes hopping across difficult, and it’s a little far for a bridge. Instead, jump on one of the stone tablets and use the Recall ability to reverse your way up the river. Make sure to jump off before the tablet goes under the platform so Link doesn’t get burnt to a crisp.
Now that you’re at the ball, you’ll probably notice that there’s a chest a little further up. Unfortunately, since the stone tablets are created here, you can’t use Recall to just ride one to it. Instead, build yourself a bridge out of at least three pieces of stone to reach the chest. Two double pieces and a single are the minimum required. The chest will reward you with a pretty powerful Strong Zonaite Shield, which is useful against mid to high-level enemies.

Once you’ve opened the chest, take the ball and use Ultrahand to attach it to a double-size stone tablet to send it back from whence you came. If you’re able to, jump on the same tablet to ride back with the ball. At the other end, you need to detach the ball from the tablet but keep the tablet with you. Place the ball in the hole to light it up green and unlock the door to the final room.
In the final room, there’s no water to create fresh stone tablets and a whole lot of lava to cross. You’ll need to take your tablet from before and bring it with you. To fit it through the door, you need to carry it diagonally using Ultrahand. It’s too big to go through the doorway horizontally or vertically.

In the final room, there are two large fans, one on each side. Take one and attach it to the very corner edge of your stone tablet. Then, grab the other and attach it to the opposite side. When done, your tablet should look something like the picture above. Place your new boat into the lava and jump on. Note that it can’t disappear under the platform with the fans attached, so don’t worry about losing it.
When you’re on the boat, just strike one of the fans with a weapon, and you’ll be well on your way. Collect your light of blessing at the end, and you’re all done!
