Sons of the Forest1.0 broughta lot of amazing additions and updates, including new story content and voice acting, but none of these additions is more exciting (to me) than the fluffy and highly adorable little trash pandas that can now be found around the forests of the island.

As much as I hate to write this (and I really do), Raccoons are a good source of meat because they’re pretty slow-moving and won’t do any harm to you if you attack them. You can also mount their heads on Trophy Mounts, though I question why you’d want that macabre decoration in your base. (I say this fully aware of my wall filled with trophy heads, but none of them are Raccoons and never will be.)

If you’re looking to find a little slice of paradise away from the terror of constant Cannibal attacks, here’s where to go in search of Raccoons. Or, if they’re not your cup of tea, the other wildlife. Did I mention that if you get too close, the Raccoons stand up on their hind legs, and you can pretend they want a hug?

Where to find Raccoons in Sons of the Forest

Now I’m not saying I’m obsessed, but I did immediately make a new Peaceful save file, called it “Raccoon Spotting”, and set out in search of Raccoons. It took a while, and my frustration was immeasurable until I came across a clearing in the Northeastern corner of the map that was filled with not only Raccoons but Deer, Rabbits, and Squirrels too.

So what did I do? Well, the only obvious thing, of course. I built a little cabin with a chair on the porch in order to watch the Raccoons, tracked down the Binoculars, and now if I’m having a stressful day I can log into my very own Raccoon watching simulator, a laSons of the Forest.

While this isn’t the only location to find Raccoons – I’ve found them in all corners of the map – it is a bit of a hot spot, and there’s a family of Raccoons who inhabit the area. The clearing not only makes it a good spot for a bit of relaxing wildlife watching but also for a pretty sizable base, too.

It’s a relatively flat spot of land with water nearby, which can be placed into a Cooking Pot on the Campfire to make it safe to drink. The area is also filled with food sources, and not just because of the large amount of wildlife. There are a ton of Berry bushes and Mushrooms in the area, as well, soif you want to avoid needlessly killing anything with four legs, you can survive pretty well by foraging.I wouldn’t recommend doing this in anything other than Peaceful Mode, though.
