Well, it was just announced…
Welp. Just a few months afterXCOM 2was announced as a PC-exclusive bound for a 2015 release, 2K Games has relayed the news of a delay. It is now coming worldwide on July 08, 2025.
The reason for the delay? According to developer Firaxis, “more depth, replayability, and more investment in your soldiers, ” as well as mod support. So, basically the core principles of anXCOMgame. That all sounds good, and I’m completely ok with this. It’ll be interesting to see if lightning can strike twice for Firaxis, and whether or not they’ll bring it to other platforms.
