Xianyun, aka Cloud Retainer, is finally playable inGenshin Impact. Whether you’re pulling for her as soon as the latestbannerdrops or pre-farming for a rerun, here’s what you’ll need to farm to build Xianyun.
Farming for Xianyun’s Ascension
Solitary Suanni
Xianyun uses Cloudseam Scales from the new Solitary Suanni world boss. The Solitary Suanni can be found in the Chenyu Vale region in northwest Liyue.
You’ll need46 Cloudseam Scales in total, which will take an average of 18 boss runs or about 720 Resin at World Level 8.
Clearwater Jade
These green gems can be mined in the Chenyu Vale region. Some even grow on the backs ofturtles. You’ll have to hit the turtles’ shells to mine the jade, but it seems they don’t mind.
Xianyun needs168 Clearwater Jade total.
Samachurl Scrolls
Scrolls of different rarities drop from Samachurls found all over Teyvat. There are a few different elemental varieties of Samachurls, but they all drop the same materials.
Xianyun requires18 Divining Scrolls, 30 Sealed Scrolls, and 36 Forbidden Curse Scrollsfor character Ascension alone. This doesn’t include scrolls needed to upgrade Talents.
Vayuda Turquoise
Since Xianyun is an Anemo character, she uses green Anemo gems to Ascend. Luckily, her world boss, the Solitary Suanni, drops Anemo gems alongside Hydro gems.
You’ll need 1 Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, and 6 Gemstones in total.
Talent Levels
Gold Books
For Talents, Xianyun requires Gold books. You can farm them from the Liyue Talent domain on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
You’ll need9 brown books, 63 silver books, and 114 gold booksto raise all Talents from level one to ten. This translates to roughly 2,480 Resin, depending on your luck.
Scrolls drop from Samachurl enemies in every region of Teyvat.
Fully leveling Xianyun’s Talents requires18 Divining Scrolls, 66 Sealed Scrolls, and 93 Forbidden Curse Scrolls. This doesn’t include materials required for character Ascension.
Lightless Eye of the Maelstrom
To upgrade Xianyun’s Talents past level 6, you’ll need Lightless Eyes of the Maelstrom. These drop from the new All-Devouring Narwhal weekly boss in Fontaine. Unlock the Trounce Domain by completing Fontaine’s Archon Quests, or quick-start the challenge from the Adventurer’s Handbook.
You’ll need18 Eyes in total. Since the All-Devouring Narwhal can only give rewards once a week, that translates to around eight weeks of farming, depending on your luck.
